Choir Performs for HM the Queen

London, England: The African Children’s Choir™ was a feature performance for a special concert observing Commonwealth Day 2008, held at Westminster Abbey. The service was conducted by The Very Reverend Dr John Hall, Dean of Westminster.

Fifteen members of the Choir traveled from Uganda to sing in the presence of HM The Queen and HRH The Duke of Edinburgh. Over 2000 people and the High Commissioners from the 52 countries of the Commonwealth attended the multi–faith service. Also in attendance was the children’s own President Yoweri Museveni of Uganda.

The Choir was particularly thrilled to meet in person both HM Queen Elizabeth II and President Museveni afterwards.

“We have had experiences with similar events before, but this has been special” said Abraham Kiyingi, Choir Manager from Uganda. “What unites us is music. We are using it as a tool to bring people and cultures together.”
